Hey, along these lines, how long does everyone keep copies of their paper utility bills?

Stuff like phone bills, power bills, cable bills, etc? I have desk drawers full of old bills that I’d love to get rid of, and I’m sorely tempted to toss everything more than a year old. I figure if there’s been no dispute about a bill since it was paid 12 months ago, then it’s probably old enough to get rid of? I feel a type drawer purging coming on, if I can get rid of all that paperwork.

even getting paper copies. I do everything electronically, and my utility companies allow their customers access to at least 2 years of back bills. I even stopped downloading PDFs and keeping them electronically. Fact of the matter with utility bills, its pretty clear whether or not the bill has been paid, by the availability of the service. If I don’t pay my light bill, I live in a dark house. If I have to prove it, I could go back to my bank records (all electronic too). Maybe I’m too trusting, but my paper consumption is drastically reduced.
